Standing on the Shoulders of Giants
As a woman business owner, I find myself reflecting on the pioneers who made my entrepreneurial path possible. Not long ago, women couldn't open bank accounts without male co-signers, secure business loans independently, or even enter certain professions. The freedoms and opportunities I enjoy today exist because courageous women refused to accept the limitations placed on them.
These trailblazers—many whose names we know, but countless others whose stories remain untold—challenged conventions, fought discriminatory policies, and created spaces where future generations of women could thrive. Their persistence in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles has enabled women like me to pursue our business dreams with fewer barriers.
The Journey Continues
While we've made significant progress, the landscape for women entrepreneurs still presents unique challenges. Women-owned businesses often receive less funding than their male counterparts, and we continue to navigate gender biases in networking, mentorship, and business relationships.
That's why Women's History Month isn't just about looking back—it's about recognizing our responsibility to continue pushing forward. Each time a woman launches a business, secures funding, or reaches a new milestone, she widens the path for others to follow.
